I have a full suspension mountain bike. Can I get a child seat that will go on the back (not a trailer)? |
My daughter weighs 32 pounds. The bike is a Gary Fisher Cake 2 DLX N O,NO, NO!!! ABSOLUTELY NOT The Rear Triangle on that bike IS CARBON FIBER and should NOT/NEVER BE CLAMPED TO! THERE IS NO WAY TO PUT A CHILD SEAT ON THAT BIKE IT'S A MOUNTAIN BIKE!!! Disc Brakes are in the way - Nothing AT ALL to clamp to... I'm going to save you a lot of time, aggravation and most of all, MONEY on this one - NO WAY!!! You should be able to; the only concern is that your daughter is getting near the weight limit of 40 lbs for bike seats. Any reputable brand of child seats ought to fit; the only thing you'll have to worry about is a seat shock, but those are generally easy enough to wrap a child's seat around. Some of the child seats even click on and off so that you're left with just a rack on the back instead of having to tote around the seat without your daughter in it. Your daughter sounds young, maybe to young to be put on the back of a bike!!! Why not wait till she is older and then get a trailer which would be safer for her. If you insist on carrying her on the back please make sure you get a really good helmet for her, no skimping on it...........its her head you playing with The chances are you will be able to however it can be potentially dangerous to carry a child on a full suspension mountain bike, A few possible reccomendations, If funds will allow it buy a cheap non suspension bike from halfords or some such place for around 拢60-拢70 and then fit a child seat to this as this is ur safest option and also leaves ur full suspension bike for what its made for. If this is not a option then u will need to lock off your rear shock and probably reduce the bounce in the forks to prevent jolting in the childs seat as much as possible.
