Can you tell me a women's mountain bike with an aluminum frame that doesn't put me in the poor house?? |
I'm looking for as light as possible to take it everywhere on my rack and a comfortable seat would be awesome. I am on info over load from my local bike shops. I couldn't care less about the disc brakes or 30 speeds, just REALLY light and a great seat. Even an ugly color is ok!! GeeZZEEEEEee HELP me out Novarra (REI) bikes are a real good value. Modern steel bikes can be just as light as aluminum, and give a nicer ride. "Comfort" bikes are usually fairly heavy, bikes with suspension and spring forks are going to be heavier than without. Road bikes are going to be the lightest, but have that road bike seating position. A simple "city" bike might be worth a look, simple, comfy seat and bars, light. If you get a mountain bike, avoid the spring forks and rear suspension unless you plan on doing bansai charges on hillsides. Good Luck! First off why do you want mountain bike? They were a fad in the 90"s but 98% of the people who ride them ride them only on the road. I have a friend ( woman ) who got one ( against my advice, I ride 200 miles a week on the road and on trails) to do a two day 150 mile ride called the MS150. Dumb. If you plan to ride on trails get a mountain bike with suspension and disc brakes. If you plan on riding on the road get a Hybrid ( nice comfortable) or a road bike. |
