How humbling is it for a roadie to be drafted on or passed by a stud on a mountain bike? |
I have been riding extensivly for about 7 years now, one of my bikes is a lightweight hardtail, I can keep up and sometimes pass "poser" roadies, they should thank me for inspiring them to train harder...or quit. I am 49 years old sometimes keeping up with roadie guys half my age......I love cycling! Iimagine what I could do on a road bike. dude you just keep on fukin rockin'!! squash roadies! next time throw the devil horns as you pass and yell "mt. bikes rule"! thats what i would do if i ever let my bike touch the pavement. Source(s): dirt or nothin Get over yourself. It's not really an issue. The rider on the mountain bike may be a stronger cyclist than the guy on the road bike, so it's no big deal. In total, however, I don't think it's important who passes who. Don't we just ride for the pleasure of riding, without comparisons and such like? I do anyway. I agree with erricolen and silverbullet,I biked a bit all my life and got into the mountain bike thing for a bunch of years and did well and loved it,BUT couldn't understand the jerks who got off on that macho passing thingy (kids stuff).Didn't take me long to realise and I was told later that the passing thingy was a fad . For most roadies its not a big deal. The ones who do take offense are the hard-core wanna-be racers. Show up to a road ride with mtn bike shoes and baggy shorts instead of lycra and they will let you do the majority of the work and drop you fast when they want. Show up on a road ride on a mtn bike and the those hard-cores wont even acknowledge you are there. Luckily that most road riders are not that way. I have found that the roadies that are also high level racers think its great for anyone, regardless of what type of bike, just be out and riding. Maybe the roadie you passed just completed a double century the day before.... |
