I want a mountain bike to get to school (a mile away) everyday and occasionally go down some dirt trails? |
I want one at $100 MAX. Is there one like that (oh- and i want it to look pretty cool; i hate ugly bikes) I just want one to get around with and occasionally go down some dirt trails in some woods or something. for 100 bucks you will not be able to get a bike that will be worth much... it will not hold up to ANY abuse and when something breaks it will cost a lot more to fix... save your money and buy a quality bike. 400 would be the absolute minimum I would ever spend on a mountain bike. check out Trek, KHS, Specialized, and Giant at your local bike shops I am with Unclean on this. $100 will get you something that doesn't do much and looks cheep while you are not doing it. However, if you are only doing a mile per trip with a bit of off road (Shortcuts etc.) you are not after a great bike either. You might try second hand or e-bay. That way you might make your $100 go farther. My last bike was an ex rental machine. Full service history etc and about 1/3 the normal price. For the money that you are looking at this might be your best option. Luck your going to get a crap walmart bike if your budget is only $100. if you go to $300, you can get a decent hardtail bike from Dicks or Sports Authority. hardtails are durable and strong and require minimal maintenance. there are some pretty sweet looking ones too. just get some beefy legs and the chicks will be all over you. lol good luck bike shop mechanic There are $100 mountain bikes at the EBAY website (www.ebay.com )SPORTING GOODS category ---some have the 'BUY IT NOW' tag for anybody who finds the price COOL but I suggest you bid on a MINT condition fully equipped rig and beat the crap of anybody else trying to outsmart you----just be sure the bike's your size and look for upgrades that are needed in case some parts are rusted or need replacement----Enjoy and hammer on! See for yourself what $100 will get you at Walmart,K-mart,Target, ect...Take it for a spin. Go to a cycle shop and take a spin on a $200 or $300 bike.Not only that, take notice of the looks. |
