Do you mountain bike? road bike? both? |
okay, what do you ride? mtb, road, both, other..... which do you prefer to ride. Both. I started cycling around 1991 right after high school, and got into mountain biking from the start. I thought roadies were big, gay, leg-shaving Euro trash wannabes with stupid bikes, and vowed NEVER to ride anything but fat knobbies! Then I went to college, raced a couple times, and started working at a bike shop in Phoenix. I built all kinds of bikes and met all kinds of people, and test rode everything under the sun. The owner even chose me to build up his custom Merlin Superlight with full Campy Record, and I found out that ALL bikes are beautiful. Years later, when I moved back to Colorado, I entered my first MS-150 charity ride. I slapped some slick tires on my Giant ATX-990 full suspension MTB and had a lot of fun. Except my taint was like raw meat afterwards! That fall, I bought my first road bike: a Bianchi Veloce with Campagnolo components. The next year, I took THREE HOURS off my ride time at the MS-150, and became a believer in the speed and efficiency of road bikes. But as is always the case, your first bike is never perfect. I felt too stretched out on the Bianchi, so I went and talked to the frame gods at Dean in boulder, CO. They made me a custom ti frame that fits perfectly, and four years later I'm still riding it. As far as I'm concerned, if it has cranks it's allright. road, mountain, BMX, recumbent, tandem, trike; it's all cycling and all good! Road bike i guess. I mountain bike a little. its a lot more exciting. I have been MTB for around 20 years, but only road biking for around 5 overall, I like road riding better, more social aspects with a group, every weekend I still like to ride mountain maybe once a month or so I prefer road riding. I enjoy mountain, but road is my passion. I personally think that there is more to a road race. More tactics, more strategy, more teamwork. There are so many variables that make it more exciting to me. I also find it more social. Mountain bike for sure Both. Road since '82, ATB '92. |
