Can any mountain bike pros give me advice about which bike to choose? |
i'm going to get either GT avalanche 2.0 disc or ava 1.0 disc the thing is, ava 1.0 is abit over my budget but the hydraulic disc, deore LX and WTB rim really make it more worth it. and if i get avalanche 2.0disc, i'm going to change the rim. so, should i just get avalanche 1.0 disc once and for all? give me some reason for choosing it thanks. I don't know much about the specs other than what you have posted, but I'm not sure what quality hydraulic discs would be on a sub 1k bike unless u were just getting an awesome deal on it. Having said that, I bet that you will drop the difference trying to upgrade the rims and other upgrades you decide to go with to make it more like that higher $ one. Also, in about 1.5months or so, should be some nice deals on bikes as they get rid of their 2007 inventory for the 08's. Well I would say to find out how much it would cost you to upgrade the GT to the Ava 1.0 specs because usually your gonna upgrade your bike anyway so in my personal opinion you should get the better one, but tell the bike pro what you want in a bike and let him tell you which one better suits you. You should be able to get the 1.0 for around $750. If your dealer won't come down go with 2.0. Later on save some money and upgrade the components. Regardless, both have the same frame, but the dealer is asking $100 over list for the 1.0 and the 2.0's list is $550. go with the avalanche 1.0, the more expensive the bike the better quality you get, make sure to get a warranty from the shop, the investment will be worth it's while, My parents got me a 400$ bike back in 1998 and the bike still goes as good a new (but I don't ride it it's small), |
