Re-spraying a mountain bike? |
got a cbr manilla quite cheap.it's yellow red and black. looking for anyone who knows how to strip the old paint off easily. going to spray it blue and white. Assuming you know how to strip the bike back to the frame, then its best just to sand the original paint with a low grit wet and dry paper (use it wet for better results) then apply 4-5 coats of white primer 4-5 coats of top coat (sand the top coat back with a high grit wet and dry paper between each coat) and 3-4 coats of Lacquer Source(s): Bike technitian for 10+ years!! Post the same question at www.gearhead.com There are experts there who will give you the best info LOOK YOU CHEAPSKATE . YOU SHOULD HAVE BOT A NEW BIKE . BUT IF YOU MUST REPAINT IT . TAKE IT TO A PLACE THAT POWDER COATS THINGS . WHAT THEY DO IS STRIP-IT THEM HOOK UP AN ELECTRIC WIRE TO IT ,TURN ON THE POWER , THEN SPRAY IT WITH A POWDERED TYPE PAINT THAT MELTS WHEN IT HITS THE ELECTRIFIED FRAME. THAT'S THE BEST WAY . BUT SEEING YOUR CHEEP JUST GET A CAN O SPRAY PAINT FROM DOLLAR GENERAL AND DO IT YOURSELF !!!!!!!! MY BRAIN the easiest way to remove paint is Industrial strength Gasket remover by 3M, Works better than any paint stripper ive ever used. |
