You obviously have the Internet.... Just guess what I'll say next. This is what you need to do. Find one or two good local bike shops, and go see what they have and what they recommend. Test some bikes, and see what is in your performance, style and price range. There is no one brand that is better than any other. You should get what fits your body the best, what fits your riding style, and what fits your budget. I have been racing mountain bikes for over 14 years. This is the only way that someone asking your question should shop for a bike. Don't ever, ever, ever, ever get a bike from walmart or a department store, they are unsafe and not worth the $100 they cost. How much you got? ;) Ellsworth Epiphany! Turner Flux! Like it's been said, you really gotta go to the stores and check them out in person. It depends a lot on what kind of riding you plan to do. Go to a local bike shop (or a few) and talk to the sales people about the kind of riding you plan to do and they can help you try out a few bikes. Ride a lot of different bikes so you can see what feels best. If you plan on just doing cross country trail riding, go with a hardtail if it is your first bike (front suspension only). You will learn better skills and you will get more for your money. |
