What are the best mountain bike shoes under $150? |
im looking for an adjustable clip on the side and something rugged and durable..... i just want the most for the money thanks everyone keeper reel!!!!!!!!! Shoes are definitely a matter of preference. What is good for 1 person isn't necessarily good for another. I had a set of Shimanos ($90) that lasted me 4 years, but they never fit quite right. My replacements are Pearl Izumi Vagabond M4's, which I found at a store called Jenson (www.jensonusa.com) for $70. The search wasn't easy. Fit was the key factor and I was willing to spend up to $200 for the perfect pair. Shoe sizes vary so I wanted to try on sizes 45, 45.5, and 46 of each style. Unfortunately local stores never seemed to carry all 3 sizes for each style of shoe. They'd have a 45 of one style, a 46 of another, etc... The worst part is that the stores offered to order me shoes if I placed an order, but I refused to order because I didn't know if the shoe fit. Catch 22. My findings...in general: SIDI shoes were too thin for my feet. Shimano shoes were also pretty thin Pearl Izumi shoes all seemed to fit nicely. The adjustable strap didn't seem to hold the shoes on better than velcro. Actually, it cut off circulation. Just remember to keep an open mind (cheaper might be better), try on the shoe before buying, and be willing to go to multiple stores. Finally, I mtn bike at least 3X per week and have done almost 2000 trail miles so far this year. I'd consider myself experienced... Have fun! new balence.... Look for the Shoes section of www.pricepoint.com,www.jensonu... or www.blueskycycling.com----they have great bargains! Like running shoes, the best ones are the ones that fit YOU. Best shoes I ever had were some mostly open sandal-like shoes I got for $8 at Nashbar. Sadly, they fell apart last year after 8 years of hard service. |
