What's the best Mountain Bike helmet on the market? |
I ride mostly trail and XC. Looking for a high end helmet. The best helmet is the one that fits you confortably. Gyro makes some pretty good ones. I don't think you need a full face helmet, and actually for XC it would only mean it would make you hot. Full face are for freeriding or downhill, or more aggressive trail riding. it comes done to how much you want to spend and how the helmet fells when you wear it, bell and fox make some really nice full face helmets which best for what you ride, but they ain't always cheap, but you get better protection If price is a non-issue, check out GIRO, BELL, SPECIALIZED I agree, Bell, Giro, and Specialized are all great names, many styles in different price ranges http://www.specialized.com ANSI and SNELL certifications make a good helmet. Other than those things, make sure it fits you. The more you pay the less it will weigh, the more ventilation it will have and the fancier the straps/adjustments will be. However when it comes down to being a "good" helmet, they all have to meet the same certifications. The Fox Flux is fabulous and Specialized makes some nice light helmets. Good luck! Too much time working in the bike shop and lots of times thanking God I had a helmet on while flying through trees or down a moutain without my bike - oops! |
