I am buying a mountain bike and how do i know what size frame to order? |
iam a male 190lbs, 6 feet tall if you're going to make that kind of monetary investment, your best bet is to sit on the bike at the store if you can. take it for a test ride. even if you find the proper measurements, you might not like how the bike sits or feels. most bike stores will even let you take a spin out in the parking lot. mine did. You need to measure your inside leg and that will give you the frame size you require. It depends on the shape of the frame; you should be able to stand astride the frame with both feet flat on the ground, without injury to yourself! Im 5'11 and all my mountain bikes are 19-19.5". Best for you to go get fitted and take a test ride at a good bike shop before you shell out the dinero. what is your inseam (when you buy jeans) what pant length. also, are you going to ride off road or on road mostly answer back in the edit section if youre going to mail order, go to a local bike shop first and size one out first. pretty much, for a mtb, you want about 4 inches clearance from the top tube before you rack your nuts. the lower the better (lower cnter gravity), but watch the wheelbase and top tube length, they get smaller as the bike get shorter. but with all kinds of suspension bikes out there, sizing is more difficult, because this changes the height of the bike. large, if they have the frame size in inches, 21 should be okay. |
