My bike brakes are jammed, and my front tire will not budge, how do i fix this (mountain bike)? http://www.bikewebsite.com/bicycle-bra.h... So... how did they get that way? Take off the brake pads and then take it someplace to get them fixed. Usually there is a little wire that if you pull up on it, it will realease the tension on the brake pads. This will be near your tires. Release the tension on the brake cable. Spray the bolts that hold the brake arms in place (brake arms are the parts that hold the brake pads, not the brake levers) with some WD-40 or some other spray lube. Remove the hex bolts that hold the brake arms and remove the arms. Get some emery cloth (or sandpaper or Scotch pad) and get the brake posts smooth (the part that the brake arms came from). Check your brake cables and make sure that the cable housing is not crushed (which would keep the cable from moving, making brakes stuck). Check your wheel and make sure that it is true and doesn't wobble (if bad enough, can cause rim to contact brake pads). Reassemble. |
