What's the top 5 mountain bike cranksets in the market? |
I'm looking to upgrade to a solid and affordable crankset in the $150-$250. What's my best bet as far as trail/XC? Thanks! Truvative - Fire-X 3.3 Team Shimano - LX Bontrager - Race Lite Race Face - Evolve XC Truvative actually makes the cranks for Keith Bontrager - to his spec though. The shifting performance IS THE BEST with the Shimano cranks. Get the year's prior release on closeout and save big bucks - Go XT if you can get them in you budget - they are a little bit lighter Source(s): Bike Shop Manager - Top100 & Tennessee's Largest Trek Dealer shimano Shimano XTR is about $350, so XT is good enough Depends on your money and the Shop. Shimano XT Shimano Hone or LX (almost the same crank, different color). Race Face Atlas or Deus XTR are nice but too expensive. FSA has some good ones, but I don't know the numbers. I went with Race Face - Evolve XC. You only need an Allen Key to install or remove. Excellent quality ramped rings. 1. Shimano XTR 2. Shimano XT 3. Shimano LX 4. Race Face 5. FSA Shimano makes the best as far as the shifting on the chainrings is concerned. The others may be stiffer or lighter or less expensive or more durable but none shift as good as Shimano. |
