Im looking for a decent mountain bike 拢300 max can anybody reccomend one for me? MTB Magazine had this to say about the Mongoose Tyaz Elite: "Out of all four test bikes (Giant Yukon - Decathlon Rockrider 6.3 - Revolution Cuillin Disc), the Tyax Elite feels most at home on man-made singletrack, and this is due to its fork. With the fork not rebounding over every ripple, you can decend faster and more sure-footedly. It even climbs easier because the fork tracks bobbly surfaces better. And on technical sections the very wide bar and well-balanced feel make for great slow-speed stability. Brakes and gears are only slightly more low-rent than its rivals, and the differences don't add up to anything you can feel through the seat of your pants. In fact, because it handles better on technical climbs, it feels as if its gears had a 34T bottom cog instead of a 32. The Kenda Komodo tyres are reasonable 'all condition' treads, a bit like a budget Fire XC Pro." Comfortably within your budget from Wiggle my favourite online bike shop. Whatever you get, enjoy it :-) Source(s): http://www.wiggle.co.uk/productdetail.as... The Matterhorn is quite a decent mountain, or maybe Everest. I recently got the TREK 3700 and I love it. It was something like $320 ... I think that is just about in your range. It's TREK's cheapest Aluminum bike, and it has front suspension. Good luck! Check out the bike here: http://www.bayviewcycle.com/newfiles/bik... Hi Have you looked at the specialized range? The Hardrock Sport '07 is a very good mountian bike. I have one which i use to ride on rough farm tracks. I have to admit though that it is proberbly not sutable for hardcore downhill mountain biking. http://www.edinburghbicycle.com/ebwpnlqr... Thats the rather long website of the edinburgh bike co-op online shop. Hope this helps! Specialized Hardrock for me. You can get the basic model for 拢300 including an RST Gila fork (not too shabby). The frame's superb and certainly upgradable at a later date, and at that level the components won't be bad either. But basically any bike you spend 拢300 on will be decent, the only real differences you will see are the balance of specification (as in does the bike have one amazing piece of kit, and everything else is rubbish, or is everything at a similar, good, level?) and the frame geometry, which really comes down to trying a few bikes and seeing which one you like best. |
