How do you change pedals from bike to bike on a women's mountain bike.? You need the proper tools and know how Your best bet is to bring your bike to the shop, have someone show you how to do it and then you will know exactly what to do. Advice on here is great, but you don't want to hurt yourself or your bike because you didn't have the proper knowledge! you will see a small stud against the crank arms of the bicycle where the pedals come out. There are usually flat spots on each side where a wrench will fit. (probably a 9/16 wrench, 15mm wrench or 1/2 inch wrench depending on the size of the bicycle pedals) Just turn the wrench until the pedal loosens, and on the end of the pedal you take off it will say right or left or have a R or L on it. this means right of left pedal. once you remove them you can switch them but they have to be the same thread count, which means if the threads of the pedals aren't the same they will not screw into the crank arms pro[erly. If you cannot loosen the pedal, try slipping a hollow long pipe onto your wrench before turning. You can also use liquid wrench to help loosen the pedal if its corroded with some rust to change pedals you need a proper tool one is a right hand turn and the other is a left hand turn and most all them are the size so most will fit. most are really tight so you might have to alitte hammer BMX gave a pretty good answer, but sometimes you need a flat wrench or a real thin one to fit in there. On some pedals the stud is shorter than some and a regular wrench will not fit in there. Good Luck |
