The GMC Top Kick dual suspension mountain bike, do u have one? |
How much did u pay? Where did u get? What do u think? The question about GMC bikes come up so often I think I'll petition Y!A to make a category just for them. ANY GMC bike regardless of model is NOT a mountain bike... it just looks that way. They are intended for on road, and offroad on groomed trails like rail-trails. The brand name is licensed to an importer that plasters the name on cheap bikes. There is NO GMC branded mountain bike that is really a mountain bike. They are labeled as such to make the buyer think they are getting something they are not. As far as dual suspension goes, keep in mind that it is not for comfort, but to keep the wheels on the ground for better handling. Since the bike is not designed for rough terrain the rear suspension just adds weight and makes the bike harder to ride since the suspension absorbs a lot of your energy that would normally be used to go forward. So, I would strongly suggest that you take whatever money you were going to spend on the GMC, go to a local bike shop, and ask them what you can afford. They have solid bikes for as little as $250 that includes stuff that you won't get with a GMC. Source(s): 27 years in the industry gmc bikes are availible at wal mart and targets nation wide as well as selected local department stores. they are not manufactured by general motors corporation. quality is questionable. heres the deal, if you truly need a dual suspension bike then the gmc bike will fall apart the first time. if you just want some thing to cruise around on, a low end front suspension with seat post suspension will be like riding on a cloud. id suggest takeing a trip to the lbs and seeing what you can afford in a bike that realisicly reflect the type of riding you will be doing. |
