I am going to buy a mountain bike. Would you recommend a Hardtail or a Full Suspension? 29" tire or 26"?Thanks |
I am looking at Gary Fisher's Big Sur, CAke 3 DLX or an Sugar 293. What bike you buy depends on what kind of riding you intend to do. Full suspension gives you the ability to go over rough, technical terrain faster and also corner better, but they normally weigh more and are more expensive than hardtails. Would recommend 26" wheels/tyres because they are the more standard size and will make replacement easier (tubes/tyres etc...). Personally I am a hardtail fan, you have more 'feel', better for jumps, more versatile and less parts to break. get a recumbent I WOULD BY THE FULL SUSPENSION 29" IF U PLAN ON BIKING IN THE MONTAINS Full suspension, 26" tire it is a more popular tire Depends on the type of riding you'll be doing-- full suspension will just cost more money if you don't use it. i believe 26" is more standard, but if the bike comes with 29" wheels then that should be fine. from what i know those are all nice bikes, so compare prices, components to find what's going to be best for you. I would suggest a full-suspension. The way the new suspensions can be set-up should give you no trouble at all with the energy losing bob of the old full-sus bikes. On the downhills you'll just love it though. 26" Hardtails are best, full suspension only adds weight and you get tired of it when not on a very rocky technical trail, yu're bouncing all the way!! Hard tail is all you need for mtb trails, and 26 is definetely the standard tire size, try the XTC from Giant, it's like a hybrid hardtail/full suspension biek, graet frame and great component but it's a little on the expensive side... |
