Is this suspension design possible for a mountain bike? |
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y251/vi... It is possible but the geometry needs to be worked out a little better since right now it wouldn't move at all... your linkages and the radii that they are following cancel each other out so your current design is just a fancy way to attach the stays to the main triangle. If you want to experiment, print out your design and make each piece out of stiff cardboard... maybe a corrugated box. Connect the pieces with some light screws or something and see how it might move. Source(s): 27 years in the industry yes, that's what a lot of cross country bikes use...most of them with air shocks. though i think yours a bit too complex--you don't need that second pivot here: http://www2.trekbikes.com/images/bikes_m... yes but it is a complex designed Maybe, but why so many pivots? I don't think it would provide a better leverage or damping than a standard rocker link. ya it is a 4 bar linkage design roughly |
