I am 6'1 what is the correct size mountain bike for me? You need to go to a bike store and have them fit you with one. That's what I did and my bike fits me perfectly. They will fit you with the bike, see to it that the seat and handle bars are adjusted and make sure the brakes are adjusted properly. You will find that a good bike shop will have bikes of many different styles and prices. I got my bike for a very reasonable price and it fits me perfectly. You're gonna need a big frame but really the question is what kind of riding will you be doing, because there are very different type for different rides. If you were for example to do single track, off road and were to go for a specialized you'd probably want a 19-21". It wants to feel a little small so that you can control it. Sizing a bike has a lot more to it than standover height (especially on mountain bikes, where you have sloping top tubes). You should have your local bike shop help you out. You might give this a shot: http://zinncycles.com/fitsystems/login.a... http://www.cbss.ca/Custom.htm i would go with a 20". you want a large enough frame to be comfortable but lower the seat if you just want to cruise around. im 5' 9" an i use a 19.5" which is a bit large for me. i always bang my knees on the frame when doin tricks. best way to find out is to try it. try an 18", 20" and 22" ans see which feels more comfortable. There are other factors besides height. I'm 6'3" with a 34" inseam and ride a 19.5-20" mountain bike with a 120mm stem. I recommend starting with a 18" but getting a sizing from your bike shop is the best way to determine your bike size. |
