How do I install a greenfield kickstand on a mountain bike? |
How do I install a greenfield kickstand on a mountain bike? The answer above is right on the money. If you're doing mostly off road riding, a kick stand is a bad idea. It can swing down and catch when you're going through some rough spots, and you'll be in a world of hurt. If you're doing mostly road riding and really want that stand on there, take it to your local bike shop and see what they have to say. Most shops will tell you free of charge what you'll need to do. If you need to drill the frame or anything like that, it's best to have a pro handle it. What type of riding are you doing? If you're really going off-road, a kickstand is not that great idea. If you're just using it for cruising and easy bike paths, then it might be usefull. As long as the frame is nothing funky, you should be able to clamp the stand on the chain stays right behind the seat tube, just as you would on any bike. Then you just need to cut the kickstand so the bike has the proper lean to it. If you can't mount a normal kickstand to the bike, then you could get a rear mount stand that attaches to the chain and seat stays on the non-drive side of the bike. Greenfield makes these as well. do not overtighten kstand, cut along angle lines on kstand ps above is correct, its best NOT to install it at all!! no kickstands! kick stanks are for third graders....... |
