Im a guy and 5'10, what size of mountain bike should I get? I agree with Ralphy, definitely go with the 19-20" frame. Pay no attention to the 26" comments above. They do not know what they are talking about and are probably refering to the wheel size. I am 6' even. I ride a 19.5" frame and it is just just barely big enough for me -- probably perfect for you. Ideally, you want to be able to adjust the seat so that when you're seated, you *cannot* rest your feet flat on the ground - you should be able to only touch the ground with your toes or maybe the balls of your feet. Been a long time now i used to cycle but i think i used to have 26" frame. I'm 5'10. I was working as a cycle courier and my measure would be that i could touch the road enough to comfortably balance on half the ball of my foot. Another measure was that my seat would be in line just under the top of my hip bone. As for your manhood, is nothing to do with the frame. Choose your seat wisely :-) 26" bike...with a rugged frame and shocks on front and seat. When you stand next to your bike for the first time....adjust the seat to about the top of your hip for right size when riding. I'm 5'8, and have an 18 inch frame (Kona), it rides like a dream especially up hills. I would suggest a 19 inch frame would be just the job for your height. It might differ from model to model but most new MTB's have very different geometries to one another so just get on one and feel the vibe. |
