What front shocks will work with a 1991 trek 800 mountain bike?
Any shock you put on a bike of that vintage is going to raise the front end and slack out the angles making it hande slower. This can be corrected by putting a lower rise (or 0 degree rise) handlebar stem on, but it will still feel a little floppy, like a wheelbarrow. That said try to get a shock with less than 80mm of travel. This may mean buying a used model. Also, you need to check the diameter of the steerer / head tube on the bike. Is it 1" or 1 1/8"? Before you spend too much, consider a different bike. |
