How can I rasie the handlebars on a mongoose XR-200 mountain bike?? |
I don't think there is any way to adjust them. So I'm guessing I need to get some riser handlebars or a new stem. Does anyone know of a good website to find this stuff, or possibly another solution to my problem? I wouldn't try more spacers, you would only get maybe 1/4 to 1/2 inch before you ran out of steerer tube. You are right, the solution is a riser stem, riser bars, or a combination of the two. Any web retailer will have this stuff www.performancebike.com www.nashbar.com www.pricepoint.com www.bikeparts.com There are hundreds out there. The tough part about threadless systems is that you don't have the range of adjustment you used to with quill systems. I've seen riser stems that go as far as 25 degrees, but you have to watch out for the reach when you do that. If you keep the same stem length and go for a high rise, you get pushed further back. High rise handlebars also tend to push you back since they tend to angle backwards for comfort. Seriously, I would take it to a shop and aske them to measure out what you need. You'll pay more for it, but you'll also be assured that what you get will work. It's worth it. all you have to do is loosen the allan bolt in the center of the handlebars and lift up very easy If you have a threadless headset (sometimes called Aheadset), you can actually buy a spacer to put between the headset and stem. This raises the bars. A bike shop should do this if you are not comfortable with going in there. you answered your own question. bars and/or stem. |
