Anyone know if there are any accessories that can be added to a mountain bike to allow carrying a 8 year old. An 8 year old is too big to carry on a bike, unless it's a tandem . The trailers and other carriers all have recommended weight limits of 100 pounds or less. Plus with mountain biking, it seems like it would be too dangerous to carry a passenger, with all the bouncing and sudden stops. that is not the thing to do if you mean off road it is too dangerous and he is old enough to have his own bike. you can get a rack over the back tire but his feet may come home bloody and torn up Get the 8 yr old his/her own bike. how about one of those little trailers that hold 2 toddlers that hook to the frame under the seat He/she should be old enough to ride his own bike unless he has some disability. And it would be too dangerous to add accessories on to a mountain bike. Well lets see,I'm guessing The 8 year old is about 50 to 65lbs.and that would make it nearly impossible to strap any type of rack or seat on the bike it self,so other than bungee cord the kid on -only option is to buy one of those buggy's that connect like a mi nature trailer in back.expensive{yes}but much safer for the passenger and rider as well.better yet,get the kid his own bike!!!!!!!!!!! Not to carry. But you might look at a gaitor bar, or a tag along. The problem is that an eight year old might be too large. However, members of our club enter events and come for rides on tandems. These work OK and I would consider this, as opposed to an articulated bar or third wheel. Luck |
