Why don't my new Shimano XT v-brakes fit my older Gary Fisher mountain bike frame?
How old and what model is your GF bike? Unless you have an old style rear brake that mounted on the chainstay (top or bottom) rather than the seatstay, there should be no problem. If the problem is a cable routing issue, I know some good tricks.

12 years in the bike shop. You should go to www.fisherbikes.com and check out some of the different sections to see what compatibility your bike might have with certain parts. I know there are some specific frames that list certain components that DO NOT fit (I would imagine that if your bike is just a few years old the models will be similar enough that if might help to look at the current ones). I hope this helps. Gary Fisher is a great bike company, and I am almost sure that if you were to contact a dealer or maybe even the company via the website they would help you out. There is also a dealer finer on the website. hmmm that's a little odd. They should work. The only thing I can think of is if your bike is extra super old it may only work with canitlever brakes. I'm also curious by what you mean by "fit".
