How do you get rid of the odor of the rubber tires of a new mountain bike? |
I keep it inside the house but the odor is very smelly. New rubber always smells because of the stabillizers in it. It will dissipate with time. If you can't wait. Your options are: 1. Spray tyres outside with Febreeze odour capture spray. This works by neutralizing/capturing the odour. Don't do it before you are about to cycle though. 2. Leave it outside to air in the sun whenever you can. 3. Soak tyres/ rub them down with vinegar. 4. Spray tyres with lysol. Good luck. You can spray the tires with vinegar which will neutralize the smell, but also maybe make your house smell like a salad. Actually, I would just wash the tires in Dove soap, and that should do the trick. Maybe take it out for a good ride first, so you will need to clean the tires before bringing it back inside anyway. I think leaving it out in the sun might help. Did you try Lysol? ride it more, the smell will go away the more you ride it Ride through mud and horse dung a few times, and that rubber smell will be forgotten. for god sakes, RIDE IT |
