Good Mountain Bikes? |
My family and I are going to start biking to get into shape. What is a good mountain bike, relativly cheap, that we can mount a child carrier on? Thanks for your help. Do not purchase a "NEXT" brand bicycle. It is a department store brand that is unreliable, and (in my personal opinion) potentially unsafe because of their subpar design, and the fact that they are usually assembled by department store workers who do not know the proper way of assembling bikes. If you are mounting a child carrier on your bike, I'm assuming there will be a child in it. Therefore, you shouldn't be "mountain biking." If you want to bike for fitness, there are much better options these days than mountain bikes. Look for a "fitness" or "commuter" bike with thinner tires. I would recommend that you avoid hybrids because they can be very heavy (I think they feel like you're riding a couch). If you are up it, an entry level road bike could be really nice, but drop bars (which curl downward, instead of just being horizontal) initally take some getting used to. Go to a bike shop with a large selection and helpful service so they can pick out bikes that meet your needs specifically. Source(s): www.trekbikes.com www.cannondale.com www.bianchi.com www.electrabike.com There are many others (which may be cheaper). Yamaha Go with a TREK or any of the similar models. expect to pay about $400 for a decent bike. Stay away from the walmart stuff. they will not put up with a lot of heavyweight use. And you are not really going "mountain biking" are you. Not with a child carrier NEXT Shocker Mountain Bike I love my Haro Mountain bike, but it's really expensive but its comfortable and it will last you years, heck you could give this bike to your child. go to your local bike shops check out Trek, Giant, KHS, and Specialized |
