Which type of bike do you prefer for your daily commute to work? (road, mountain, BMX, hybrid, folding, etc.)?


Personally, i love my 15 year old road bike with back panniers.

Hybrid (cyclo-cross) with a backpack. Almost as fast as my road bike, knobby tires for a little XC ski park shortcut to one of the pedestrian bridges (saves me 6 minutes and the area is used for one of the cross races in the fall), and is good in the early spring gravel still on the shoulders of the roads.

Road bike. Trek 520 with rack trunk. Don't really have that much stuff to justify carrying panniers.
I use a road bike but would prefer hybrid with panniers
Right now I'm commuting on a '79 Schwinn Le Tour III, but looking to invest in a Novara Strada, runs 105s across the board, 10-speed rear cassette, and weighs as much as the Cannondale Synapse Carbon 2.
Right now I only own a mountain bike, which I use for commuting and for weekend long-distance riding. I would love to get a road bike, but I think I would prefer the heavier, upright mountain bike for the city commute, due to the rough terrain. I have a rear rack and either use a backpack or one of those bags that strap onto the rack itself.
