Anyone looking for a bike repair instructional video? |
i am a young bike mechanic with a few years experience working on bikes. i have accumulated a mass of information during these years, especially upgrading a project bike from $200 to $1700, and working with several friends' bikes. i was thinking of making an instructional movie on mountain bike repair for anyone who has a bike. it would include every aspect of mtb repair. i would package it on a professional looking DVD with a text file to go along with the DVD. i no there are not a whole bunch of movies that teach these sort of things for beginners and pros alike. i would sell the package at around $15 for the DVD and manual (cheaper than any other reapir vid i've seen) do you think there is a demand for a product such as this? well, i do buy mag's and books to read up on repair, but i have not seen a DVD yet, yeah it might work ! cause its visual ! Cheers I personally use a book, Zinn & the art of mountain bike maintenance, for all my repairs. What I would appreciate is a tune-up video and $15 is less than any in-shop tune-up. I never know if I'm actually oiling the chain properly, or if I'm ignoring some important part. You could even go 1 step further and partner with either bike shops or bike manufacturers to include this DVD with every new bike sale. Being on the trails, I've talked to a number of novice riders. Many are not mechanically inclined and struggle even with repairing a bike tire or adjusting disc brakes. Nope yea go for it ill be lookin for it Have you considered instead of making a DVD make it a Acrobat File (.PDF) and place an ad on eBay to test the market. I think your idea is great and shows more potential than you think. I buy a lot of these type instructional PDF files on eBay, the last one I bought was a Yahama service manual, they offer them at a buy it now price and once the money is deposited in their PayPal account they email you them the file. If it sells good this way you can run off some CDs, and go on to the next step. Oh yeah check into to getting a copyright for your information before you go ahead with any thing first. |
