Want to start bike trials, but not exclusively. Which bike?

I want to have a go at bike trials, but also would like to do just a little bit of dirt jumping and general riding around. I've looked at two bikes, the Giant Rhythm G BMX, and the Giant STP mountain bike. Would the Rhythm G be capable of this stuff? I like it because i'm also interested in street and flatland riding, but want to be sure that i'd at least be able to get a taste of trials with this bike before shelling out the cash. I also don't want to buy a "trials only" bike to start with because i'm not sure if I will stick to it. Thanks for any advice.

The rhythm G bike wouldnt exactly be designed for big dirt jumps but its definitely capable of it. To be honest you really need to decide which style you are more into. If its street and tricks you see yourself doing go for the BMX but if you want to do dirt jumps and are not so much focused on the tricks elements go for the Rhythm G. I think if you really want to try trials you are better off going for the Rhythm G because of the wheel size. Trials bikes have 26 inch wheels so and if you want to develop your trials skills you might as well ride a bike with 26 inch wheels...
