Mountain bike shopping.?

So I'm gonna be getting a new mountain bike in the next week. Just looking for some tips on what to look for when I'm buying, how it should fit to me, and any good brands to look for. Is McKinley any good? Any feedback is great.
I'll be mainly be using it for exercise, getting around sometimes, and I'm definatly going to be riding some trails up north.

For what you are looking to spend most bikes are going to be very similar. I have a 2006 Giant Boulder SE ($330.00) and have put over 600 miles on it in 10 months. I love this bike. It does everything I have asked it to and it never has let me down.

I would try and stay away from the "big box store" bike brands and visit your local Giant or Trek dealership and see what you get. You might spend a bit more, but the service ensuring you get a bike that fits and is right for you is well worth it.

$200 is not enough for a decent mountain bike in my opinion.

do not fall in the walmart bike's trap. spend $300 and get a brand name. trust me if it worth the extra $100
