What tires will fit on my mountain bike rims? |
The bike I have is the 2007 GT Zum 4.0 CORRECTION, my current tires are 26 x 1.25. They are very skinny, and I doubt I will find a mountain tire that same size, so I know I will have to go wider, just need to know how wide my rims will support....the Rims are - most tyres up to 2, 2.1" should fit OK. You should probably install larger tubes at the same time. I took a look of a picture of your bike. It appears as if you could go up to 2.5 or more. You may need new tubes at this point. I agree that you should take it into a bike shop and they will help you pick out the best ones for your needs. For that bike i would get a hybrid tire that was 2". Tubes are cheap anyway, so go ahead and get some that fit perfect. They are at Walmart for around 5 dollars. Most probably you could find some 1.9 or 2.0 that might fit. Go to a bike shop and see which tires they have and if they could really fit in your rims. 26 x 1.5 superb 26 x 1.5 Go to a bicycle store, they will know. |
