How do you fit the new mountain bike split links on?

I've bought a mountain bike split link to fix my broken chain, the guy at the shop told me that people have been complaining that they are hard to put in but all you have to do is bend the chain, even my dad has experience with bycycles and he can't seem to get it on, anyone have any ideas about these new split links?

Thank you very much for finding this for me, the websites show how to put the link on but they make it look so easy but it's still so hard to get on, I think I'm going to go back to the shop tomorrow and ask him if he has any more 'classic' versions of a split link =)
Thanks for all the information =D

I'm going to give you two suggestions since I don't know which model you have, but there are two I know of.

SRAM Powerlink and the KMC Link.

SRAMs PowerLink and KMC's mising link installs in the chain with the pins going through on opposite sides and through the larger openings in the chain. After they seem together you have to put tension on them by pulling the chain firmly in opposite directions. This can be achieved by holding the wheel stationary and putting pressure on the crank.

The other two models of KMC's replacement links are installed slightly differently, but the guides can be found on the KMC link listed below.
