Easy mountain bike trails in Michigan?

Hey I just got a bike I would like to find some trails (non paved) in South east Michigan for a newbie !! I'm still scared to do hard things so i would like to try easy ones!

A real easy one is in Monroe called Munson park...Real flat with a few logs to deal with. Island Lake Blue is fairly easy and it runs about 10 miles and the Yellow loop runs about 6, but with slightly harder hills. Besides those, check out any metro park! There's always little unmarked trails off of the paved ones that are fun to explore and aren't too hard!

Well, I live in SE MI. and rode most trails around here. A short easy trail is in Mayburry Park near Northville 6-7 mile & Beck rd. They extended the length from a very short 3.6 miles to somewhere around 5.7. It's where I take newbies. The ride is mostly easy with a few fairly steep but short hills. Quite a bit of hard pack, few rocks or sand, but a few roots here and there. It crosses old paved trails in a couple spots so if you had enough you can bail and just cruise back to the parking lot. Be warned, bring water, last time I was there they had no water due to bad wells or something.

Another, longer trail but somewhat easy in parts is at Island Lake. It was my home course for several years as I worked right next to it for a while. It's about 13-15 miles some parts are fairly easy - some hard, but again it crosses pave bike trails in several spots allowing you to bail. There are some other smaller one's that I haven't been to in a long time 'cause they are just boring in Oakland Co. parks. There is one in Rochchester - Bloomer Park too.

Oh, I just remembered there is an easy short trail in the Holly/Seven Lake park area close to I75 and Grange Hall rd. It's quite easy except for one super steep hill.

Out by me Highland Rec isn't too bad. Multi loops let you test out shorter rides. That's near M59 and Duck lake road.

Bishop Lake in Brighton isn't too bad but it has lots of sand which I don't like. Bald Mountain, isn't bad at all either.

That's about all I can think of for now.

EDIT: Highland rec. is just s. of M59 (Livington rd just west of Duck Lake) not proud lake.

The Trail for Proud Lake might not be too bad. It' located off Duck Lake at Livingston Rd (west of Duck Lake) in White Lake Twp, (Milford area)
