Are there any baggy padded shorts for bike riding? My mountain bike seat kills my butt! What can i do?

I agree with jasbo. If you ride a lot, a firm padded saddle will be more comfortable - gel saddles or covers will actually be worse. Your saddle must fit you well or it may always hurt. If you're just starting to ride you need time for you rear to become accustom to the saddle/riding. Padded baggies may be available - IDK though. You could wear standard padded shorts under neath though. Also, I find MTB trail riding easier on my butt that road riding. Maybe your sitting too much over rough terrain? I stand or at least unweight a lot in MTB riding opposed to road cycling.

Yes,thankfully there are many manufacturers of padded biking shorts.
But I have to be honest with you.
You said " My mountain bike seat kills my butt! What can i do?"
So I suggest a more comfy seat.
Your butt and prostate are more important than a lightwieght cool looking seat.Try a nice soft gel saddle with springs.
No difference from a suspension seatpost.Any spring action or compressing of foam in inches is the same.
Some may heckle you,but not if they sit on it.they always say the same thing, just"Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh"

I hope this can be of some help to you

Funny - it never seemed to be a problem when we were kids huh!!? So, I've never seen Baggy padded shorts - maybe you should patten that idea! I'd wear them! What I HAVE seen - at Walmart in the Bike section - they sell a bike seat cover that ties on to yours that is totally gel like a firm silicone. I've also seen them at Toys R Us in the bike section.

Baggies are nice, and can also be found at http://www.performancebike.com, or http://nashbar.com. Don't role out the option of tights though. They fit more closely to the body, and have less fabric to uncomfortable folds.

I also agree that the more you ride, the easier of your butt it will be, and that you should not look for a softer saddle.

Happy riding!

Padded shorts help. The more you ride, the more you won't notice the harder saddle. A soft cushy saddle will likely become uncomfortable after a lot of riding.

David---check the baggy shorts at WHEEL WORLD (www.wheelworld.com), Price Point (www.pricepoint.com )or Jenson USA (www.jensonusa.com) . Hope you can find something sweet---
