What kind of fork should I buy for my mountain bike? |
I have a 2004 stumpjumper and the rear suspension is 4 in. or 100 mm I need to get a new fork and a lot are either 120 mm or 140 mm or adjustable length. Would it be weird to have more suspension up front then in the rear. I had that model a while ago. I would go with a Rock Shock Reba with the U-Turn feature. It's a pretty nice, light and responsive fork than can be manually adjusted from somewhere around 90mm to 115mm, which is the perfect size for that Stumpy. Allot of bikes I have seen have more suspension in the front than in the rear....you probably want to stick with the same size (within 10-20MM) that came on the bike - or you will really change the ridinging characteristics of the bike - probably in a bad way. Becasue you will change the head tube angle if you go much bigger or smaller. |
