Does any one know the best (mountain/road bike) for a 12 year old boy?

For someone 12yrs old, a lot of the bikes you'll find are just small bikes with cheap components. However one company realizes that some don't want this and would rather have a well spec'd, quality bike for younger smaller riders, that company is Scott.

Allot of other brands out there - but these are the basics...
24 " or 20" with gears and front shock. For road riding you would want something with thinner tires - but that wouldnt work on trails. these mountian bikes can work on both.

Check - DiamondBack, Fuji, Giant, Trek, Kona - they all make similar versions of these sized bikes - and all around $200 bucks I think. Kona would probably be the best and a little more $ than the others. Maybe there are some others too.

Don't listen to HBK Jhn. All BMX bikes are single speed.
