Whats a good bike brand for a male?

weighs 280 lbs and wants a mountain bike he is 5'9" doesnt need anything fance looking to spend no more than 200 dollars.
are schwinns good?

Schwinn makes a wide range, from bikes that are heavy, don't work well, and don't last very long all the way up to some really fine machines for enthusiasts. The ones for under $200 fit much more into the first category than the second.

To find the best values, don't get hung up on brand names. The bike business is so competitive these days, any two bikes at the same price point are very likely to be equivalent values. Stay away from the big box stores. Go to your local bike shop and ask if they have any "last year's models" left over. That will stretch your money for a new bike as far as possible.

Schwinn is more geared towards raod bikes. Mongooses are good for a cheap mountain bike. If you can find a cheap one i would get an ironhorse bike. Even the cheapest ones are built like a rock. I would get a 19" or at least 17" size frame for a guy that size
