Whats a more economical first vehicle: car or bike? |
im looking to getting my first car soon. what would be better to buy - a car or a bike? im sure bikes get really good mileage and replacement parts (ie tires, rims) are much cheaper to replace than a car, and i have a lot of experience riding both a mountain bikes (i race) and dirtbikes, so i know how to handle a bike well. if i buy a car, it will most likely be an older muscle car, like a mustang, camaro, or the like, with a v8. im sure that can get expensive with gas but i wont be driving that often. since its older, i'll pay slightly less for insurance. i think bikes have an extra premium to pay for insurance on top of regular auto insurance, so my question is, do the benefits of better gas mileage and cheaper maintenance offset the cost for the increased insurance rates? btw, if there is bad weather, i can always borrow my moms car. i would be willing to ride a bike in [light] rain anyway, once i get used to the handleing. a bike? hello, they don't use gas or mileage! or do you mean those motor bike thingys?? idk, but i would use they normal "no gasoline" bikes if i were you, unless your going on long trips. anyway, you should get a hybrid, or a minivan, believe it or not they don't use as much gasoline as a convertible!!!! Your safer in a car. got my 98 from eBay for $4200 in great condition last year so dont pay over that a bike would be the most economical thing to own right now,as long as you have transportation when the weather is bad,and cold weather isn't good to ride a bike in either,but they are a lot cheaper on insurance,and way cheaper than a car to keep up ,and operate,so if i was in your shoes right now id probably buy a bike also,good luck and good riding. been a certified mechanic for 37 yrs,and been on yahoo for over a year now. |
