Mountain Biking Places to ride in Ayrshire? |
Hi I am Moving to ayrshire Irvine to be presice and i am a very keen Mountain Biker And I was just wondering if anyone could tell me any good places to ride in Ayrshire that is quite tricky as i like a challenge thanks alot all answers welcome as stated the beach park in irvine is quite hilly and worth a look. There are also a few good off road runs in the woods in dundonald around the castle and near the dundonald hills (which is worth a look too, albeit it's on road) I used to love the tracks at the back of culzean castle, but a lot of the tracks are now for walking only (early in the day before it gets busy it's good fun, lots of scary, steep, tricky tracks). if you head along the beach from the maidens and are prepared to push the bike up a few staired areas you can get in to the grounds at culzean for free too! other than that just get out and about on your bike and have a snoop about. Been a few years since i've done any serious mountain biking! Can always head to the beach park mate, plenty hills/sand dunes to clamber about on Life Im answering this on my missus account just so you know, What type of biking do you like, if its xc then you have plenty of surrounding area to check out, im sure you will find some good runs out that way, if its more downhill based then your bang out of luck, i live in lanark and have been looking for someplace thats not innerliethen or glentress and there is nowhere. if you find somewhere please drop my a message. If you head along the cycle track No 7 heading for Glasgow you will come to Lochwinnoch. There is a cafe at the side of the loch, go in there and you can get a free book with a number of various cycle paths and tracks. you could also throw your bike in the back of the car and motor down to the Galloway Forest park, south of Ayr, that has routes made for mountain biking. Keep cycling, might see you about. Mainly a road cyclist but do a bit on the mountain bike. |
