How can i make riding a bike easier? |
I have a mountain bike - schwinn - 22 speed - would it be easier to ride on the street if i replaced the knobbie tires with some type of street tires? The bikes about 10 years old , and me about 3 times that .So any little pointer on how to improve performance so that i can avoid a heart attack :P please repppost Hello Iambk4life, -First thing you should do is have your bike tuned up at a good local bike shop to make sure it is in good and safe working condition. Have the bike mechanic change out your tires for some slicks or semi slicks. Also I think you have a 21 speed not a 22 speed. -Then if you have not worked out in awhile, make sure it is safe to work out. Get an OK from your Doctor. Hope this helps. trade it for a moped...lol, it's easy on your heart use stabilisers. only joking. the bike seems pretty old so its probably rusted so oil it do it up as good as new and shud be better. its old so riding on the street is probably better. or just get a new bike. Yeah, those knobbels create a lot of drag. And make sure your chain and gears are clean and oiled. But if you really want to go fast, buy a racing bike. 22 speed? Yes, road tires will make for a smoother ride. If your tires are ten years old, they should probably be replaced anyway. And maybe the bike, too if it's old and rusty. Another option is to keep the mountain bike for the trails and get a road bike for the road. They are a lot lighter and faster than mountain bikes. Some people don't care for the riding position, but even if you got a hybrid that might work better for you. Good Luck! Riding should be fun, not a struggle! if possible turn off or tighten suspension. wear tighter clothes and make sure the Tyre's are pumped up enough Yes. But...and there alway Is a but. It's 22 speed! This means it has granny gears. Use the smallest gear on the front chain ring and the biggest gear on the rear flywheel. The gear should be so easy that a 90 y.o. lady can ride it. This may save you some cash. What I would be more worried about is the rear derailleur malfunctioning and injuring my sensitive spot. |
