Are there 24inch mountain bike rims that are under 550grams?

I plan to build up a street bike. I looked around at a few websites, but it seems that there aren't any around.

Yes. Alex makes them for the OEM market (factories). More to the question is why spend the considerable cash to build a street bike out of an MTB? There are several companies that make road bikes with 24" or 650C wheels.

so im going to go with the Atomlab Pimplite's they are about as light as you are going to get but if your doing urban you might want to check out the pimp also
