How long will it take?

Im about 6'2" close to 200 pounds and Im thinkin about riding a bike to the town where i work at every day its about 25 to 30 miles from here to htere and im riding a mountain bike...im estiamting about 45 minutes to an hour but i think im way off so if any of u can give me ur take or just some advice to go faster that would help me alot.

Hey,

some of these answers are a bit misleading. An hour to ride 30 miles on a mountain bike. You have got to be joking! Thats about 45+km/h - that is the speed of the professional peleton!!

I would say that you would need to allow at least 1 1/2 hours, and that's if it is a flat road. That would be an average of around 20 mph. Which is more realistic!

If you can do it in 45 minutes, you should get a contract with a professional cycling team!
>_> Dude I'd just drive. 25 to 30 miles is just way too much to be doing everyday.
well you should say weither it's an up and down ride or flat surface but the avg would be about an hour i'd say
pedal faster.
Between an hour and two hours. ride it one day when you dont have work and see how long it takes
I would estimate 1 1/2 hours on your first ride. Change out your tires to a 1 1/8 slick or semi slick if you do not go onto any dirt trails. The tires will make you go a little bit faster on the roadway. Hope this helps a little.
Firstly, put road tyres on your bike. This will help with speed, along with a higher tyre pressure. I would also fit spd s for general riding.

Secondly, your way off. 25mph is a cracking pace for mountain bikes. I would look at about 2 hrs. Try it one weekend and see. I usually ride 20 mile routes. XC takes about 2 hrs. For road, I can manage it in just over an hour (XC tyres).
