Does bag work make your muscles bigger? |
I've lived weights in the past and ran a lot in the past. After a couple leg injuries, mostly ankle, i decided to stop running and took up cycling. I ride my road bike about 2-3 times a week for about 1-2 hours and my mountain bike out on trails about 1-3 times a month. I still lift some weights but not as often as I would like (school/work). I do have a heavy bag and was wondering if the bag work I do would help me stay at a good size and not shrink down to the "average cyclist" body. I do three minute rounds on the bad and I do it about 5- 6 times. One of which I use as shadow boxing and one as full out combos. So basically, 4 of actual bag work, 1 of full combos and 1 of shadow boxing. Will this work out help me stay bigger up top and not loose too much muscle? I can always up the workouts and rounds. not so much bulk from bag works because of a lack of weighted resistance. Your more likely to lean out your muscles and get ripped. conditioned. It might keep your arms toned and at for the most part the same size but everything else will shrink. Its better then nothing. Bag work is more plyometric then lugging weights around. It focusses on explosive power, fast twitch muscle - power generation. |
