I am travelling around the world in 2007...how can I find sponsors for my trip? |
I will be staying on organic farms, doing work in exchange for room/board (www.wwoof.org) and "couchsurfing" (www.couchsurfing.com). The point is to write a book about how other cultures have tackled the issue of sustainbility. How can I find sponsors who would be willing to cover some (or all) of my travel costs, or provide me with a digital camera or video equipment to document my travels, or a mountain bike to travel between countries that are close together, or a PDA for writing blogs and journals or even clothing that is durable? What a great idea! But, in order to get sponsors, I believe you will need to be able to offer them some benefit in return - like a swap. One way to look at it is that you will be providing some product publicity when/if your book is published and that might have strong appeal for the kind of goods you are seeking. You might also look for some sponsorship FUNDS (to be used to buy the goods you described or the travel costs) from organizations who could use periodic update from you as a series of newsletter articles or magazine articles. One magazine I recommend you contact is Organic Gardening at http://www.organicgardening.com/... because they were a pioneer publication on the subject of organic growing and continue to have a very strong organization and following. An important side issue; you MUST have a good travel medical policy that will cover you no matter when and no matter where.
