What are everyday living conditions in the Coast Guard?

I am 27 and ready to join but I want to know what type of hobbies/activities I can resume. For instance, can I keep my mountain bike with me to ride on my days off? What about my new laptop. Truck. Furniture? Do I need to sell this stuff or put it in storage for 4 to 20 years? I am ready for all the hard work but I need to know what to expect when not working. Since I'm not fresh out of high school, I need to realistically consider what I'll be giving up. I have been told that I should let someone have custody of my cat. Please let me know what things will be like in the coming years. BTW, if it matters, I plan to get into SAR. I am a paramedic now. Thanks

You won't have to give up anything! 90% of the places you will go to, you will have a house or something like that. I have collected so much stuff being in. Usually the only time you will have to use storage is when you are moving from Unit to Unit. I ride my bike everyday Im off duty! The Coast Guard rocks! I wouldn't trade my job for anything else. I would talke to a recruiter ASAP. The Coast Guard wont take you after you turn 28.
