Can i replace the handle bar on my Trek 7.2 fx? |
I was wondering if i could change the mountain bike type handle bar with a more road oriented bar(curved). Would this be possible and if so how much would it cost? yes, but... you proably also need to change the stem as the road bars will be too narrow. Cost is variable, depending on quality of stem add bars ($50+ exc labor) Are you referring to the drop bars that are used on road bikes? (the ones curved like a ram's horns?) If that's what you want, you will also need to buy new shifters and brake levers (which sometimes might also require new derailleurs and brakes). The costs of all these things add up quick. The shifters and brake levers used on straight mountain bike handlebars (rapid-fire and twist-grip type shifters) won't work on road-bike-type drop bars. Hope this helps some. |
