Can I use my summer camelbak while skiing? |
I have a summer mountain bike camelbak (the magic) and I was wondering if I would be able to use it during the winter. Will the water freeze, if so, is there anything I can do to make it so that it won't? You can (and should) go to a ski shop and buy the insulating kit, which will be a neoprene (or whatever) condom for the hose, and a covering piece for the sip valve. Tip: the hose will still freeze anyways, even with the insulating stuff, if it's cold out. Nothing like being at 14K feet, and you can't get a freaking drink without tearing apart the bag and unscrewing the lid, in -40 degree wind chill, with your gloves off, and hypothermia setting in. Oh, the tip, take regular sips, every chair ride, to prevent it from freezing. You need to stay hydrated anyways! Source(s): Been there. It's a 100 degrees right now. Where's the snow? the main bag won't freeze, but the hose will... you can wear it under a ski coat to keep it warm, and you can buy an insulating sleve for the tube to keep the water from freezing. it works pretty well. I've tried this. First of all, no it won't freeze. Second of all, when snowboarding, it feels really awkward, especially if your ride park. Just not right. It throws off your center of gravity. So while it is possible, I do not suggest doing it 3 years snowboarding No worries it will work fine. Get the insulating kit. It runs around $35.oo works great. |
