Female athletic cup? |
Is there a female athletic cup or other device to prevent injury caused by mountain bike brake cables? Ouch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A better method would be to go to your local bike shop, and have them put cable sleeves over the offending cables. They are simply plastic sleeves that cover the wire and essentially take the "sharp" out of the cables themselves. If you look on the sales floor, you will see MOST of the bikes have "little rubber donuts" as we used to call them, all over the cables on top, but a few different ones are going to be covered in a little loose fitting plastic sleeve that just prevents the cables from having any shearing ability if you come across them in an offensive way. Hope this helps!! no, or I should say yes some female athletes wear a cup (soccer players, fastball catchers and yes, even football) but rarely bike riders. bike shorts have some padding but...sounds like your bike does not fit you. the frame should be sized so that you could if needed slide off the front of the saddle without touching the top bar. If you're in contact with the top bar and or cables get thee to your friendly local bike shop and have them check the fit.
