i bought a comfort frame by mistake thinking it would work fine as a mountain bike. its a trek 7300 that im building for a friend who rides mainly on the road with some easy trails a couple time a week. he's on a shoestring budget and most of the parts are coming off his old mtb. can i use his 26" wheel on the front (he bought a Rock Shox Dart3) and buy a 700c for the rear? the brakes wont work otherwise.
Since the fork is designed for the 26" wheel it will be OK, not the best way to go but will work. It would have been better to save money by not buying the Rock shox and instead buy the proper front wheel and solid fork to match the rear 700c. yes you can I did it myself it works out fine i myself have done it, and i'm now on a mtb frame w/26" rear wheel and 700c front (so i don't hurt my bad hip mounting).works great.
